Meet Leah Hinrichs, the passionate founder of Pasture Expectations Greenhouse & Gifts. With a lifelong love for the outdoors, plants, and gardens, Leah has always embraced her creative spirit. The journey of Pasture Expectations began about six years ago when Leah sought an alternative to steroid creams for her infant son’s eczema. Driven by the desire to create all-natural skincare products that would help her children, Leah developed lotions and creams that proved so effective they inspired her to expand her product line to include soaps, vapor rubs, lip balms, and more.
Leah is married to Chris Hinrichs, and together with their three boys—Ian, Carson, and Erik—they live on the family dairy farm. Their home is filled with the joy of many animals, including their friendly family dogs, Oakley and Colt, two annoying cats, Taco and Katie, a variety of chickens, and two beloved horses, Willow and Daiquiri.
Growing up visiting her mother’s greenhouse, Leah always dreamed of running her own greenhouse business. She firmly believes that “it’s impossible to be grumpy or mad in a greenhouse! People are always happy when they visit a greenhouse.”—a sentiment echoed by the uplifting smells, warmth, and positive atmosphere of these vibrant spaces.
In 2022, Leah took the leap by opening a small greenhouse to sell vegetable plants and flowers, which has since flourished into a Vegetable Plant Pre-Order Program and a broader selection of flower varieties for 2023 and 2024. Excitingly, in the summer of 2024, Leah acquired a commercial-sized greenhouse and established a charming store that showcases products from local creators. When you visit Pasture Expectations Greenhouse & Gifts, expect to be greeted by a number of friendly dogs and enjoy the welcoming farm atmosphere. With anticipation, Leah looks forward to opening the greenhouse again in the spring of 2026, ready to share her love for plants and creativity with an even wider audience, and is looking forward to welcoming more people into the store throughout the winter season!
